Week 21 (Mock Exams)

Imagine if you had not followed the strict program of study over the previous 20 weeks, you would probably be stressing around like a headless chicken by now trying to cram information into your head, but at this stage if you have not gone through a structured study program it is way too late to start learning the material. Hopefully with the strategy provided you have been able to prioritize your time and familiarize yourself with all of the key curriculum readings. No method of learning is foolproof, but on the margin you should be substantially better prepared than you would have been without a structured program. More importantly you should be much better prepared than the average candidate that you are competing against at the test, which is what this is all about. Please remember to record your results in your week 20 progress report.

The week to come:

Now in the last week we are going to focus on mock exams. If you have followed the program you will have gone through the examples in ethics reading 2 once or twice during phase 2. This week it is all about practicing mock exams. There are several sources from which you can acquire additional mock-exams if you are running short. Don’t just do the tests though, ensure that you are allowing time to revise the answers thoroughly, this last step of the process is crucial for absorbing the new insights from the questions that you were struggling with, and is almost as important as actually answering the questions.

Depending on your other commitments, if you are able to clear the calendar for the last week before the test this is definitely worth considering. This way you can do mock exams every second day and then use the day in-between to revise the answers in depth, before going through the same cycle again the following 2 days. In other words if you do a mock exam Monday and Wednesday and revise these Tuesday and Thursday. This is probably the most effective approach (depending on your energy levels). This will allow you to reserve the Friday before the test for last minute revision and relaxation. But please do not over do it, you will otherwise risk total burnout before even sitting the test.

It is important that you do not do a lot of work the upcoming Friday just before the test. It is fine to revise the final mock exams and perhaps flick through some flash card for last minute memorization, but otherwise do things that relax you and ensure that you get a good and long sleep before hitting the test. The worst thing you can do is to stay up late Friday evening doing a last minute cramming session. You have spend 21 weeks acquiring all of the information that you need. So there is really no added value from a last minute session, it will only detract from your ability to perform Saturday, as your energy levels will be depleted.

That’s it. Best of luck for the test. I really hope you return after the test and tell us about your success story in the comments below. Please do let me know any thoughts you might have about the study program (positive and negative) at info@financialexamacademy.com. I am committed to keep improving this resource to help as many of you guys as possible pass the test. Lastly please remember to record your results in your final week 21 progress report.
